This is an image of Mercury taken in 1974 by NASA probe Mariner 10. Mercury is the closest planet to our sun. It is slightly larger than Earth's moon. Mercury is one of only 2 planets in our solar system that has a perfect circular sphere shape. Mariner 10 has been orbiting the sun since 1975 when it ran out of Nitrogen gas that it used to maneuver in space.
